How to get rid of aphids on cabbage
Aphid is such a pest, the appearance of which is easier to prevent than to get rid of it. Not all methods and means help to destroy insects from plants so as not to negatively affect the vegetables themselves. No, of course there are some popular methods that do a good job with aphids, but we cannot speak of complete destruction.
So that the plant louse does not fill the cabbage (or any other) bed, first of all it is worth thinking about the methods of prevention. Cabbage cannot be planted for more than two seasons in a row on the same garden bed, but if it is not possible to allocate a new garden bed for cabbage, then it is necessary to prepare the old one properly. From autumn it is necessary to destroy cabbage pokers, dig up the soil (preferably with the addition of tomato tops).
To prevent aphids from settling on cabbage, it is necessary to plant tomatoes, marigolds, calendula, dill, celery or carrots around the perimeter of the bed. Aphids do not like the smell of these plants, but their enemies - ladybirds and gold-eyed, these flavors and beckon. It is worth remembering that where there are large numbers of settlements of ladybirds and gold-eyed cows, the aphid does not take root.
If, however, aphid attacked cabbage, but insects on plants are visible in single copies, then in this case you can fight them manually. To do this, wear gloves and gently crush insects on the leaves. After the procedure, the cabbage must provide a "warm shower" to wash off all the dirt from the leaves.
If the plant louse has created impressive colonies, then stronger artillery is required. For spraying seedlings, you can use both homemade infusions and buy special industrial preparations. Of the self-made, an ash-soap solution (500 grams of ash and 50 grams of laundry soap per 10 liters of water) has proven itself well, and industrial solutions have Kemifos, Fury, Iskra-M and others.
