The article of our site - How to find a chord is a formula for finding a chord and step-by-step instructions on how to solve such problems. In the article - What is the name of the segment connecting two points of a circle, you will find the properties of the chord.

The chord that passes through the center of the circle is the diameter. Therefore, those who are more interested in the term “chord” in the context of geometric science will also find it helpful to read the article: How to find the diameter of a circle.

Chord in zoology

Some species of creatures, namely the type of "chord", is inherent in the presence of the chord. In this context, a chord is called a long elastic longitudinal cord. In the majority of representatives of the species, the chord is present only in the period of embryonic development. Mostly in the lower classes of the species, the chord is preserved for life. For the rest, it is replaced by the spine. The chord in these organisms consists of cells of endodermal origin and is located on the abdominal surface of the neural tube.

In general, about 43 thousand animal species belong to the “chord” type. They inhabit the seas, oceans, rivers and lakes, on the surface and in the soil of continents and islands. Such a distribution they received due to the diverse appearance and size. For example, small fish and frogs up to 2-3 centimeters long and giant species of whales up to 30 meters long and weighing up to 150 tons belong to the chord type.

Chord in sociology

In sociology, it is accepted to call chord the most primitive type of organization. And in this case, by organization, we mean an association of people or a state structure created with a specific goal and principles of work.The primitive type of organization implies a minimum number or the complete absence of hierarchical steps within organizations. Therefore, the main tasks of the organization are approximately equally divided among all members of the organization.

There are other types of organizations. For example, according to the principle of interaction with the external environment, they distinguish:

  • Mechanical organizations (they are not able to adapt to external changing conditions);
  • Organic organizations (tend to adapt).

According to the type of interaction that develops within the organization, emit

  • Traditional organizations (in which management takes place on a linear basis, from top to bottom);
  • Divisional organizations (i.e., the organization consists of relatively autonomous units);
  • Matrix organizations (work in them develops around specific projects).

By the type of relationship organizations with an individual emit

  • Corporate (i.e. closed and authoritarian);
  • Individualistic (free and open).
